In my life, May is typically a month of happenings: my daughter's birthday, Mother's Day, a trip to visit my son in Illinois, openning fishing.
This year May was additionally memorable to me because I turned 60 years old. It's not becoming 60 that was such a big deal, it was what happened...
My sister-in-law hosted a surpirse party for me. As if that wasn't enough, my son and daughter planned a surprise party for me, as well. Both parties I will remember (as long as I have a memory) fondly because the people I love went out of their way to express their love for me.
I realize that this statement sounds as if vanity is my greatest asset...it is not. These parties, on the other hand, reminded me that perhaps I have been capable of sharing my love with my friends and family. Does this make sense?
You see, I tend to be a kidder and a tease. I might even substitute sarcasm for humor (Who once said, "Sarcasism is the lowest form of wit"?). Ocassionally I wonder if these loved ones have been offended by my antics...perhaps humor at their expense. It appears to me that, just maybe, they see through me and know that they are some of my reasons for living and loving.
This May was a Happy Birthday month.
